• Carbon buildup with Direct Injection engines

    Thursday, 14 October 2015.

There seems to be a lot of "mythical" opinions regarding carbon buildup and direct injection engines.
Let me shade some light on the subject...

  • RIP Caliber SRT4..

    Thursday, 8 October 2015.

I've managed to do something that I never thought I would be able to do... I killed a car ;(.

My little beautiful beast CSRT4 is gone; the engine got grenaded by its own turbo. I went off track flying (literally) and the impact on landing was strong enough to shake everything and the compressor side of the turbo shattered. The engine sucked in all the metal pieces... and that was that ;(.

A painful reminder to keep yourself in check...

  • A new DIY..

    Friday, 22 May 2015.

Here is a different kind of DIY. Made at the request of some people that were interested in knowing how have I painted my Caliber's intercooler pipes and engine cover.

    Interested? Have a look here.

  • Busy Spring...

    Tuesday, 15 May 2015.

Currently I am working on a few upgrades for my "babies" - mostly my CSRT4. She was in desperate need of some loving.
I'm looking forward to post a few new DIYs, like replacing a clutch, LSD, hubs and control arms... and a few customs things like making your own bracket seats (no welding involved) for those aftermarket seats you might want.

  • The website has been updated...

    Monday, 21 July 2014.

Website has been updated and it even got some small visual changes here and there.
In the end I've decided not to go with "Joomla!" and build my own little thing. This allowed me to keep the website running without any interruptions until everything was completed.

"Outside" links toward the "mods" articles are not the same any more so, you might want to update them - all my modification articles can be found here.

The comments section was removed since was nothing but a gate toward spam emails.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me; just please be patient since it might take a little until I answer back.

  • Upgrading to the new Joomla version...

    Thursday, 08 May 2014.

Since I've been having problems with some spam email trough the comments section, I am currently... or better said finally... upgrading to the latest version of Joomla (still running on the 1.5 :|).

    What does this mean!?
In a couple of days the website might be inaccessible.
Since the new version of Joomla works and builds its links in a completely different way... all the links toward my articles will not work any longer and they will need to be updated - really sorry for the inconvenience!
Also, the comments from the "comments section" will be gone since the plug-in I am using is not available for the new Joomla version. But I will be using a new plug-in so comments will still be available.

  • New DIY - Installing motor mounts on your Si

    Friday, 28 February 2014.

Its been a while since I have updated anything on this site. Haven't forgotten about it... just life got in the way with more important stuff.
New family member... new worries, new things to do :).

I've been doing a few small things to my car and I was able to prepare a new DIY for those of you who like to tinker with their own cars.
The DIY is about how to install motor mounts on your 8th gen Si and it can be found here :).
I will be adding more pictures to it in time. I'm just waiting for warmer days so I can take my baby out - can't wait for the Summer.

I have a few more plans reserved for this Summer... let's hope I'll have the time to put them in place and come back with new stuff that might interest some of you.

Now let's all hope and pray this winter goes away fast because I had enough of it already... :/

  • New DIYs - Turbo setup and Installing LCA bushings

    27 August 2012.

Two new DIYs (or guides) were uploaded.
Turbo setup and LCA bushings installation.

    Enjoy! :)

  • Wheel hop on the 8th gen civic Si ...

    Monday, 11 June 2012.

Past weekend I went to Cayuga with my friends to test the Si and everything went pretty smooth except the darn wheel hop...

  • Si is almost done ... :D

    Tuesday, 22 May 2012.

It's been a while since I have added any updates on my little turbo setup...
Within a week (or maybe two) my baby will be back home and I will be able to do more updates then.

I can't wait to get my car back. It's been a while since I have properly drove it and I kind of miss it :).

The turbo setup is completed. Actually mechanically, the car is completed and the only thing left now is painting the car.
We managed to get some decent numbers from this small turbo: 304whp and 207wtq. Tuned by K-tuned on a Mustang dyno.

For all of you with an 8th gen civic car ... you will be surprise where this car is rusting :|. I've been taking care of the car as much as possible but it seems like Honda still missed a few spots on rust-proofing.
One of the most common spots (especially on the coupe version) is the door frames, at the sharp corners. Also, under the rear-wing, the metal pieces from the wing tend to rust quite "nicely" :) ...

So here is a good advice for you ... remove that wing and have a look at it. Also remove the rubber from your door frames and have a look underneath ... you might be in for some nasty surprises ...

Anyway, I will be following with more info and some more pictures as soon as I get my baby back.

I'm also planning to write a more detailed article about the whole setup and what to consider when going turbocharged.
Will probably end up in the Mods section as a DIY.

  • Small update ...

    Thursday, 02 February 2012.

Looks like the turbo install might be harder to chew than I expect ;(.
I guess this is what is happening when you get into something new that you do not have too much experience with...

Yep, now I am thinking if turbocharging was really the best thing to go for.
Not that is not possible ... no, not that. Is because of all the stuff that needs to be done on this car to actually make that sucker fit ;(.
Both the inlet and outlet for the inter-cooler are on the driver side so hopefully this will reduce the length of the pipes; but still, custom piping must be done - well I kind of expected that anyway.

I'm still thinking that maybe the SC was the way!? ... hmmmm ... but then ... powah!? ;(

AC is out, new RC 550 injectors are on the way, battery is about to be moved in the trunk and will see what else it has been done on the car this Saturday. And since the AC is out, new belt is needed as well. Oh and I still need to get new spark-plugs (1 step colder).

  • Dun, dun dun...

    Monday, 16 January 2012.

    Car is in the shop!

Here we go ... the "fun" is officially starting and I really hope I will be able to finish everything by end of April / beginning of May - just in time for the racing season.

I know is not such a big setup, but thinking that the next time I will be on the streets the car will feel completely different ... gets me really excited :) ... you know, something to do with white stuff and buckets :D

Things to do to my 2008 Civic Si:

    - Refresh the body's look - re-painting the car (same color) and add some visual touch-ups
    - Adding my little turbo
    - Dyno the thing ...

I'm still missing a few parts for the turbo setup, but should be OK for now since I am re-doing the body first.
These are going to be 3 ... long ... months ...

    No pics yet ...

  • An overlooked and maybe underrated car

    Thursday, 01 September 2011.

I have recently went to the dark side and purchased a 2008 Caliber SRT4.
I know ... I know ... a lot of people will be laughing right about now at me for getting such a "terrible car".
But is it really that terrible ... !?

The best 2 days of my life ... :).
I cannot find any other words to describe it!

If you are looking to learn how to become faster, make sure you seriously consider participating in this school.
The instructors are great, the track is amazing and the organization of the event was without any flaws!

Thank you Carl and "Perry Performance & Competition" and thank you "HADA Motorsport club" for these days!
